What is Particle Therapy?

A brief introduction to the three primary modalities currently transforming cancer care globally.

Proton Therapy

Proton therapy uses positively charged particles to deliver a high dose of radiation that stops precisely at the tumor site. This helps destroy cancerous cells while minimizing damage to the surrounding healthy organs and tissues.

Carbon Ion Therapy

Carbon ion therapy utilizes heavier particles that are more biologically effective at shattering the DNA of radiation-resistant tumors. Because the particles are heavier, they provide a sharper focus and a more powerful "punch" than standard radiation.

Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT)

BNCT is a targeted two-step process where a boron compound is injected into the blood to concentrate in cancer cells, which are then hit with a low-energy neutron beam. This triggers a localized nuclear reaction that kills the specific tumor cells from the inside out with cellular-level precision.
